My Thoughts on GREASE: LIVE!
Well HELLO WORLD, and
I can honestly say that I'm having a really good day today. I got up early and had breakfast, my apartment is clean, and I even went to the gym for the third day in a row (Yay!). Lately, after I get back from the gym I've been taking way too long to make lunch, and keep finding myself crashing. But TODAY, I made a delicious lunch, and I even got my Starbucks reward beverage... So, I'm feelin' pretty good. 😄Truly, if you're wondering how my week is going, my happiness is usually directly proportionate to the amount of blog posts I write... so...you do the math... 🙈
Okay, back to being happy. Last week really wasn't all bad. I had a few auditions that I'm feeling awesome about, I've finally mastered the next level in my underwater basket weaving class, and helllloooo?! it was GREASE LIVE! Naturally, I had a viewing party with a gaggle of my besties whom all dressed up as Greasers and Pink Ladies as we sat down and judged the crap out of FOX's production of Grease ( whilst of course stuffing our faces with chips and salsa... )
And you know what?
I Loved It.
Really. It was so much fun to watch, and I was super impressed with how many unique sets there were. I mean, Hello?? The Finale? Fucking Fantastic.
[ Hello from the other side? 💁📞]
In my opinion, Grease is a really difficult show to do ( and I should know, because I played Doody in Middle School 😝] as I feel as though everyone has their own preconceived notions about what they think Grease is supposed to look like (usually being the John Travolta version). After an opening number like Summer Lovin' where it's nearly impossible to not sing along, how are you evvvver supposed to keep an audience entertained for three more hours??
Luckily, they did it.
The team at Fox definitely did a great job by getting rid of some of my least favorite numbers: *cough* MOONING *cough* [ Even though their prom scene (or whichever school dance it's supposed to be...) could have used some more booty... 💁✨]
And Okay, Let's be real: Grease is an amazing show for high schoolers because theres a lot of supporting characters that all have their own solos, making it a perfect way to give everyone a chance to participate... However, in the movie version most of those solos are performed in the backgrounds of other scenes, and in turn seem a tad awkward when translated to stage...
All in all, I think the cast and crew of GREASE: LIVE did a spectacular job with giving this iconic script a brand new light. And to think that Vanessa Hudgen's Father had died the previous day, I was thoroughly impressed with her performance and cannot even imagine how that would have felt. Plus, not to mention how amazing Julianne Hough was... 🙆Goodness, It was great.
I'd love to know what your favorite moments of the show were, so totes leave me a comment! ✌
And now, it's time for me to sign off and get some more work done. I've gotta memorize a script for a commercial, but don't worry - I wouldn't leave you without a Greaser group photo! #duh. 💁✨
WE GO TOGETHER.

I love you all.
