A Little Yoga #Throwback For You!
It is always so nice to see a photo of yourself practicing a yoga posture, though often it looks nothing like what it feels like. This was taken two years ago at the Yoga Championships where you can see my forehead and toes are touching. Though today, I am at about a 20 degree angle with my body and my legs and am focusing on the strength of my legs and not letting my knees bend. It is so difficult not to collapse into stretching poses, as they take so much effort to maintain. I do not know where it started, but I always try to bite my toes or perhaps I just imagine a juicy chunk of watermelon in between my big toe/second toe. To coordinate your practice of stillness with motivation towards something you want,see, and know will help you is such a powerful thing. No matter the depth of the posture; the harder you're working the more we need to give ourselves Love, Food, and Water. Start with Love.
To practice yoga means just that: to practice.
It can be tempting to compare what we look like now to what we looked like in the past. Naturally, as time passes our bodies are going to change. We pick up new habits, we try new things. All is normal and at the same time everything is a suspect for what's in your way. Practice to work each day where you can breathe, spend less time thinking about going to your maximum or even what you look like spend time in the in between.
Hold still, calm down, and positively tell yourself to try again if you fall out.
You're worth it.
